Hello all,
I'm 17, Vietnamese American and dreaming of "making it". I like to bring up the topic of the possibility of entering the pop hype as an Asian American. However I haven't seen an average looking Asain artist being signed to any labels that promotes them massively. What do you guys think?

I don't think labels are signing (or will be signing) anyone that isn't a 'sure thing'. In other words, they're looking for entertainers that have established themselves as able to dominate their local area(s) and understand what it takes to make sales and retain an audience. Then the 'label' just ramps up the scale of the process to the large territories.
So, regardless of your 'looks' or your ancestry, if you can demonstrate a consistent ability to draw crowds and sell product, then the labels will be beating a path to your door.
